Exporting Bookmarks and Passwords from web browsers

Exporting Chrome Bookmarks

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  2. At the top right, click More More.

  3. Select Bookmarks and then Bookmark Manager.

  4. At the top, click More More and then Export Bookmarks.

 

Exporting Chrome Passwords

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  2. At the top right, click Profile Profile and then Passwords Passwords.

    • If you can’t find the Passwords icon, at the top right of your screen, click More More and then Settings and then Autofill and then Password Manager.

  3. Show, edit, delete, or export a password:

    • Show: To the right of the website, click Show password Preview. If you lock your computer with a password, you'll be prompted to enter your computer password.

    • Edit: To the right of the website, click More More and then Edit password.

    • Delete: To the right of the website, click More More and then Remove.

    • Export: To the right of "Saved Passwords," click More More and then Export passwords.

Exporting Safari Bookmarks

  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose File > Export > Bookmarks.
    The exported file is called “Safari Bookmarks.html.”

  2. To use the exported bookmarks in another browser, import the file named “Safari Bookmarks.html.”

 

Export a passwords file

  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose File > Export > Passwords.

  2. Click Export Passwords.
    WARNING: Your passwords are exported to a CSV file. The CSV file is not encrypted, and anyone reading the file can see your passwords.

  3. Enter a name and choose a location for the CSV file, then click Save.

  4. Enter the login password for your Mac.

  5. To use the exported passwords in another browser, import the CSV file you created.

 

Exporting Firefox Bookmarks

  1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel. Click Bookmarks and then click the Manage Bookmarks bar at the bottom.

  2. In the toolbar of the Library window click the Import and Backup button

    and choose Export Bookmarks to HTML… from the drop-down menu.

  3. In the Export Bookmarks File window that opens choose a location to save the file, which is named bookmarks.html by default. The desktop is usually a good spot, but any place that is easy to remember will work.

  4. Click Save. The Export Bookmarks File window will close.

  5. Close the Library window.

Exporting Firefox Passwords

  1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel.

  2. Click Passwords. The Firefox about:logins page will open in a new tab.

  3. Click the logins menu icon (three dots), then click Export Logins….

  4. A dialog box will appear to remind you that passwords are saved as readable text. Click the Export… button to continue.

    • You may be prompted to enter your Primary Password, if enabled, when accessing stored passwords.

  5. You can choose the file name and location where this exported data will be saved.
